“Ahead of Jammie Holmes’ solo New York City show, Marianne Boesky Gallery partnered with Frieze Productions to create this portrait of the artist at work in his studio. Capturing the rhythm, tempo, and tone of his creative process made this a thrilling project. As we synced into one another’s movements the filming process became highly collaborative, almost like a dance.

Using a handheld camera, including for the interview, allowed us to visually communicate Jammie’s aesthetic even more deeply. The process eventually became so fluid that we captured several moments that simply would have been impossible to film had we attempted to stage them.”
